On our first full day in Luzern we caught the bus to the foot of Mt Pilatus where we boarded 4-seat cable cars that take us three-quarters of the way up the mountain – then everybody boarded a much larger cable car to complete the journey to the peak – this was scary – it looks like you are going straight up the rock face of the mountain!
The view from 7000 feet is unbelievable!! The weather is fabulous – there are people lying around taking in the sun – it is probably the most serene place I have ever been – I don’t know if it’s the altitude, the pure air or the breathtaking view but the tranquillity is awesome. The only thing to break the silence is the haunting sound of a Swiss horn. We spent three – four hours just sitting and basking in the atmosphere but eventually had to return down the mountain – this is definitely a highlight!
