Naturally while in Rome we have done exactly what the Romans do.....eaten copious quantities of cakes, pasta, gelati, pizza, and of course, consumed gallons of red wine!
We have planned to stop over in Singapore for a couple of nights on the way home and what a way to end our trip!
We are transported from the airport to The Mandarin Oriental and are treated like movie stars from the moment we cross the threshold. This is total luxury to complete our journey. The girls insist on heading out straight away to explore “Little India” …… not a good idea! Gordon, on the other hand, wisely decides to sleep! We find our way to “Little India” where we purchase saris and shirts but not great shopping – maybe we were in the wrong spot. We finally go back to the hotel where the girls and I finally get some sleep. A little later the girls are all soundly asleep while Gordy and I head out to look around Singapore and then go back to the hotel for dinner. Singapore is fairly expensive – apparently the idea is to head toward Malaysia to find the bargains!
The next day we have arranged for a car to take us to the Singapore Zoo – this is absolutely amazing – must be the best zoo in the world! The orangutans are so gorgeous and we even ride an elephant! A visit to the famous Raffles Bar is also a must.
Our last leg is finally upon us and when we arrive at the airport we do our last minute ‘duty-free’ shopping attempting to spend every last cent before we have to resume reality!
Arriving back on Monday morning Regan and Jordan get changed and head off to school, I teach ballet in the afternoon and Gordy is back to the grindstone the next day! Ah well ….. we have to set to and save for next year!!!
