A year has passed and we are now on our way once more to Europe. We departed on time as a storm brewed ominously on the horizon – we seemed to be just moments ahead as dark clouds rolled in and lightning illuminated the sky.
An uneventful flight to Singapore and the three hour stopover was just enough time to shop for make-up and perfume.
I'm very excited about my new acquisitions! |

Schneeballen! |
Set down in Frankfurt at about 6.30am – we were through customs with baggage in a flash – there was even time for coffee and cake before catching the 8.01 train to Wurzburg , arriving at 9.26am. Our black Mercedes was waiting at the train station – and although it took a little time to work out the GPS we were soon on our way to Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Red Castle on the Tauber). We arrived at 11am and found our hotel without a problem – very quaint and well-positioned – we had a family room – a double bed, 2 singles, table chairs, couch - all furniture was timber and painted in traditional German folk art. After adding a few layers of extra clothing we were off to explore the township. Our first stop was to buy some “schneeballen” – or snowballs. These are a traditional Rothenburg treat - a ball (about the size of a baseball) of deep-fried pastry, either coated in icing sugar or dipped in a variety of different chocolate.....YUM!
