I obviously became far too engrossed on the excitement of finally being in Paris and as a result my note taking came to an abrupt end! Luckily our 12 year-old was far more organised. (13/01/03) GC arrived the following morning - (finally.....he had trouble finding his way out of CDG!). We spent the day sightseeing ....... the Sacre Coeur ...beware the scammers wanting to make a quick dollar by making a macrame braelet for you then asking for several euros in return! A couple in our little band of travellers were caught and paid the price though when I grabbed youngest and made a beeline to safety I was met with a mouthful of abuse....not a nice feeling in such a beautiful city. Galleries Lafayette was also on our radar that day, the markets, the Metro and finally home after dinner at the Lebanese Restaurant opposite the hotel.
Day 2 - The Metro to St Lazarre then onto the "Hop on - Hop off" sightseeing bus - a must in a new city to get your bearings. First stop the Eiffel Tower .....I recommend the hot chocolate...youngest recommends the hot dog and fries.....which apparently has miraculous healing qualities to tummy aches! Onto the Louvre - amazing, Notre Dame - breathtaking and rounded off back at the Galleries Lafayette!
Day 3 - From St Denis to St Michel where we boarded the RER for Versailles. What an amazing place/palace. No wonder the peasants revolted! That night GC and I and Ash went to the Moulin Rouge. I had always fantasised, being too tall to become a ballerina, that I would end up a 'Bluebell'....suffice to say it didn't happen and, apart from amazing bodies, there was not a whole lot of technical dance involved, but at least I can say I've been there.
Day 4 - Musee Dorsay (my favourite place in Paris) and Rodin's Garden at the Hotel Biron.
Day 5 - Following day was a trip to another Market then off via the Chunnel for the two and a half hour trip to London. I love Paris!
