Our car is valet parked and after a young Aussie girl checks us in (there are more Australian here than Canadians) we head down to the lake with our skates. There is a carved ‘ice house’ in the middle of the lake but after hitting the deck three times I give up and head for the ‘ice bar’ set up next to a couple of blazing braziers – they even supply marshmallows!
We are able to hire the skis and snow board gear for the next day at the hotel – even Gordy is going to have a go! The Fairmont is fantastic....very opulent.
