After breakfast the next morning we cab it to the Niagara Falls train station to catch the 10.30am train to New York . Halted at the border, about 5 – 10 minutes away, we have to disembark the train where we are fingerprinted, photographed and after completing various immigration forms reboard the train and, after an hour or so, are once more on our way.
NB: If going to Niagara Falls – arrive in the morning then leave in the afternoon. Not much to see in the actual township although I believe scenery etc is worth seeing further around however you obviously need wheels. In hindsight, I would have left on the night train to New York and arrived in the morning (it’s a very long trip) to have an extra full day in the Big Apple.
We are sitting in Business Class and starting to hear the unfamiliar ‘twang’ of the American accent. It’s harsh and sharp – but then again – there are many Australian voices that grate unnervingly too!
