Belmonte

The pousadas of Portugal are spread throughout the country and are grouped under various categories eg; historic, historic design, nature and charm.  You can purchase a "Pousada Passport" for varying days in length and use this to travel from one pousada to the next (book first).  It is very easy driving around Portugal and the Avis maps has all the pousadas marked very clearly.  The distance between each pousada can often be just a few kilometres.  Our next stop was Belmonte......I think my favourite of those we chose.

The rooms at Belmonte aren't numbered but rather 'named' and I'm sure we had the pick of the rooms as it was just beautiful.  The curtains were drawn when we entered our room and the girls couldn't contain their giggling....they had already spotted the enormous deck we had out from our room.

Our room

Jordan's favourite part of ANY trip!

The food in all the pousadas was wonderful

So many little alcoves around for contemplation

Antiquities everywhere

A home for everybody
