Not as long a journey distance wise but it
took a little longer as some very winding roads and through quite a number of
little villages so more care and less speed was required. We parked in Cahors and walked around the
city. It’s Sunday, so a lot of places
are closed although there is a large gathering at the church as the Bishop of
the area is leaving, so many locals were there to pay their respects and then
have tea afterwards. There is evidence
throughout the town of the Roman city that this area was over 2000 years ago
and often Roman arches are fused with modern architecture.
After lunch we decide to head to our accommodation
which is actually at Acarmbal, about eight kilometres away. Because the street didn’t come up on the GPS
I wanted to make sure we knew where we were going before dark. Just as well as we ended up on a very steep,
very narrow road up a hill, clearly not the right way! There was a gentleman working on his car we
were able to ask, so somehow, we managed to work out where we were supposed to
be. Les 3 Cochons is a B & B, so we
have our own bedroom and bathroom within the house. Our hostess is German but has lived here for
11 years and is very pleasant.
We returned to town and after quite a long
walk chose a bistro to stop for dinner. Now back at our room, Gordy is watching
French TV as he can’t find any English channels at all! Candy Crush may soon be making an appearance!
