Today after breakfast we set off for
Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, which is about 14 kms from Arcambal where we are
staying. This is an amazing village set
on a hilltop overlooking the valley.
Originally there was a castle, of which you can still see the remains, but
now there is a magnificent church and a collection of amazing houses and
buildings eeking up the mountain. We
spend about an hour walking all over the mountain from top to bottom – it is
amazing!
We then head back into Cahors and find a delightful
little restaurant to have lunch. Then I
actually manage to do some shopping -
four beautiful French bras for 60 euros! Bargain!! Plus some cardigans
etc. Feeling happy – have been away for
over three weeks and have hardly shopped at all! Apart from buying food L Foie gras, truffles, salt … I’m hopeless, I know!
Tonight we have dinner at our
lodgings. One of our best meals
yet! We have bought French champagne and
wine from the local super marche so our hostess joins us for champagne before
presenting us with arrot and orange soup, pork tagine and raspberry crumble,
accompanied by a glass of the local red, the ‘malbec’ is renowned in this area. Good day had by all!
