Day 14 - Cork

Today we head off from Killarney Royal Hotel to the “Ring of Kerry”.  The weather is inclement when we depart but very soon lifts to reveal beautiful blue skies.  The Ring of Kerry is a drive through the national parklands along the coastline.  The scenery is quite beautiful, wild and untamed.

We stop at a little town called Sneem but most shops are closed.  On to Muckross House where we take the tour of the house – very lovely and quite a history of tenants but finally bequeathed to the people.  Beautiful gardens.  We also stop at Torc Falls.

We finally make our way to Cork to Hayfield Manor.  On the way the people from Waterford, where we are meant to be staying, ring to cancel our booking due to unforeseen circumstances but when we arrive at Hayfield we decide to spend two nights here, it’s so lovely.

We dine in their ‘fine dining’ restaurant and my first course is scallops with “black pudding”! And yes, I did eat it J
