Day 22 – First full day at Steamboat! After breakfast we head down to the main area
to try to assimilate ourselves with the locals.
We book a “Private Lesson’ for 1.00 – 4.00pm($399) then head for the
baby slopes to try to remember anything we may have learnt in the past. Marc, from France, is our instructor and leads
us to the mat …… after several runs up and down this beginner slope he then
decides we should go over to the chairlift …. Yaaay! I must admit I was getting a little
bored. We go up together then I am able
to take off on my own, which is great, and I spend the next 40 – 50 minutes
skiing this ‘green’ slope in an attempt to gain my confidence. Gordy is with Marc and is doing quite
well. Time for a drink – how unusual –
so off to the Sheraton bar, but by the time we’ve had a couple of drinks the
skiing has lost its’ appeal. Fond
farewells – Marc was really only on the clock for about an hour and a half –
but Gordy’s parka is soaked (he did fall over a couple of times) so we stop to
buy a new parka, then head home for a hot shower and a trip to the bar! It’s been a big day so we are happy to stay
indoors tonight and just relax.
