Day 18 - Chicago

Day 18 – Coldest day yet!  Temp is -12 degrees F but the wind chill factor makes it -35 degrees F!!  After breakfast we decide to stay indoors and head to the shopping mall next door …we don’t have to walk outdoors at all!  A couple of hours later Gordy has just about reached his limit, so we head back to the room for a “chill”.  A couple of episodes of “Criminal Minds” later and we decide it’s time to move again, so we head (by cab of course) to The Drake Hotel, a beautiful and notable hotel over 100 years old that has hosted many famous patrons including European aristocracy, American Presidents Hoover, Eisenhower, Reagan, Ford also Roosevelt, Churchill, Charles and Diana not to mention stars such as Liz Taylor and Judy Garland…the list goes on…it has also been used in movies such as “Risky Business”, “My Best Friend’s Wedding”, “Mission Impossible” and more…we stayed for the “High Tea” then headed back to the hotel (more TV) before heading out to RPM, an Italian Restaurant which is quite close to our hotel.  Highly recommended!

OK - So maybe it was champagne and not tea!
