Day 21 – Goodbye Chiberia! Early start (5.00am – very rude for holidays)
to board 9.00am flight to Denver. What an
unbelievable airport! After disembarking
we had to walk quite a way to main mall, then catch a train to the baggage
collection, our bags were waiting for us then out to rental car station where a
bus then transported us to the main car area to pick up our rental. We were given a brand new Chevrolet
four-wheel drive and after sorting out our GPS we were off to Steamboat by
about 12.00pm. Great road, though still
a little stressful driving on wrong side of the road sitting in the passenger
seat! We took a small detour, thinking
we were going to find a coffee shop – wrong!
So back on the main road for another 12 miles to a place called
Klemm…something – will try to find the name on the way out …. Where you can at least get a coffee. Back on the road, still great however the
last 20 – 30 miles were a little stressful – lots of snow and ice on the road
so we drove with great care and finally made it to Steamboat Springs by
4.00pm. Fabulous resort – our room is
big enough to accommodate at least six (maybe more) with fully contained
kitchen, large lounge/dining are complete with fireplace, king sized bedroom
and double sink bathroom.
Down to the bar – how unusual J - “Happy Hour” between 3.00 – 6.00pm, so a few wines and appetisers
then back to the room – it’s been a big day!
