Boiled eggs and toast soldiers – or a
version of that – yummy breakfast J Finishing our coffee when our friends from
Baltimore, Carol and Robert, arrive. We
have decided to visit the Holocaust Museum – not exactly the most uplifting
attraction in DC but unbelievably well done and, as you would expect, very
moving. Including the movies, it presents a very clear
description of the persecution of Jews from centuries ago through to the rise
of Hitler and the Final Solution. Well
worth seeing.
We then wandered back to Old Ebbitt’s
Grill, established back in 1856, for lunch.
The suggestion was then to head to the old town section of Alexandria
however, with Friday night traffic, a few wrong turns and conflicting GPS
instructions, we ended up in Virginia at Tyson’s Corner, an enormous shopping
centre! We did a quick scout around,
picked up a couple of bargains then we were dropped back to the hotel. It was a lovely day spent with distant but
dear friends.
We head down to the bar for a bite to eat and
meet up with a guy we’d been drinking with the night before. Several cocktails later L Tom, our new friend, picked up the tab, so guess who is taking Tom
out for dinner tomorrow night?
