Day 13

After packing our bags we are off to Penn Station to catch the 10.35 train to Philadelphia, arriving at 12.00pm.  We are staying at the Sofitel and the room is lovely – huge separate bedroom, lounge, bathroom (with bath!) and extra room for luggage!

We set off for a walk going first to Reading Terminal Market – the longest running market in all of America – whatever food you wish to buy is there!  Amazing J

After sampling some of the fare we continue walking and visit Betsy Ross’ home.  Betsy tempted fate by making the very first American flag for George Washington – and by doing so risked arrest and hanging for treason as it was an act against the King.    She changed the star from a six pointed star (that George Washington wanted) to a five pointed star, which was easier to create, especially in such large numbers .. Betsy won!

Back to the hotel and after a freshen up and change of garb we have a few drinks in the bar and then head to Talula’s Garden for dinner.  Great food and wonderful service – ask for Jennifer – I would definitely recommend J
