After breakfast we went for a quick walk
around the block stopping at ‘Born Yesterday’ to look at the most adorable baby
gear. After checking out we taxi it to
the station to catch the 11.11 train to Washington, arriving at 1.10pm. We are booked into the Hay-Adams. Upon checking in I suddenly realize this was
not the hotel I had wanted to book into but it really is a beautiful, elegant
hotel. Built in 1928 for John Hay, who
was 1st secretary to Lincoln and John Adams, it is quite
beautiful. It looks straight across to
the White House.
We take a stroll after checking in and have
a drink at POV at the Washington Hotel.
This rooftop bar overlooks the White House … after you look over the
Treasury! Back home for quiet time. Not going out tonight so we head downstairs
to the bar – decorated with prints of fabulous caricatures of various political
figures, even the coasters reflect the same including the bar tenders who have
been working here for years!
Up to the restaurant for a fantastic meal J Such an elegant and tranquil
space, it exudes sophistication. The meal
is sensational and the service impeccable.
10 out of 10 from me.
