Day 14

Yummy breakfast downstairs then we were picked up from the hotel to join the “Hop On Hop Off” Bus around Philly.  We take the whole trip first before deciding where we should concentrate our energy.  When we arrive back at the start we have time to co across the road to visit the very famous ‘Liberty Bell’.  First rang in 1751, the Liberty Bell has become a symbol of liberty.  The Liberty Bell's inscription is from Leviticus 25:10: "Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land Unto All the Inhabitants thereof."

Our next stop is the Barnes Foundation – Dr Albert Barnes made his money through science then invested in Modernist artworks and trained himself to become a 'connoisseur' of art.  This exhibition holds the largest collection of Renoirs anywhere in the world.  He obviously had a penchant for Matisse,  Modigliani and Cezanne as there are many of their works there also.

We tried a 'Cheese Steak' today - Philly's answer to the NY hot dog and also a Philly pretzel this morning at breakfast - delicious - Philadelphia is famous for both.

We rested at the hotel for the afternoon, enjoyed a cocktail in the bar downstairs, then headed down to Le Cheri, a French restaurant 251 South 18th St – absolutely divine!  Would thoroughly recommend.

Back to the hotel for nighty-nights J
