02/01/13 - Beaune

Post script to Paris:  In the new room the hotel was great - great position - thought they could have supplied water and tea and coffee making facilities - no wine in the mini bar.....however there is a "Paul" on the corner for coffee, croissants etc and a great little Spanish wine bar left of the hotel.

The start of the evening!
Today we are off to Beaune.  Down to Gare de Lyon (about 20 mins from our hotel) onto the 10.23am train to Dijon, arriving at 11.58am.  Then onto the Beaune train leaving at 12.10pm arriving 12.30pm.  Penny was there to pick us up and we were soon at the apartment.  Exactly as we remember so we dump our bags and go for a walk through the town.

Seems that there are no restaurants open today (apparently all reopening tomorrow).  We have lunch at a lovely little restaurant (beef burgundy and pizza with pitchers of local wine).  We then visit the local charcuterie, fromagerie and boulangerie for supplies for the evening.....not to mention the local vino!  We are now back at the apartment indulging in obscene  amounts of cheese, meats, wine etc.....listening to local French radio!
