Another
lazy start to the day. As we are booking
out today, but not catching the train until 4.30pm, after breakfast we pack our
bags to leave at reception while we are out exploring again. The packing job is very lax today but we will
sort it when we leave Madrid. J We go
for a brief wander through the old town part of Ronda before heading down to
the Tourist information office where we are being picked up to do a wine tour
to the Joaquin Fernandez Bodega. Like
clockwork our driver turns up (he is the son of the vineyard’s owner, Moses. It’s only about a 15 minute drive to the
bodega and we are given a guided tour of the winemaking process before being
escorted down to the restaurant to sample three, very generous serves of their
organic wine. The owner is busy cooking
a paella for afternoon guests. Obligatory
purchase of three bottles of wine and then we are taken back into Ronda – great
value for 32 euros! Only 33 euros for
the wine. We were so impressed with Las Maravillas
yesterday that we head back there today for lunch. The tapas are fabulous and eight tapas later,
one dessert and four glasses of wine sets us back 27 euros! Score!
With six pieces of luggage the taxis are getting bigger but we finally make it onto the train and a little over four hours later we are in Madrid. We navigate the station out to the taxis and finally settle into Gran Melia - a night in for a change.
