Day 18 - Paris NYE

Once more I awake at the crack of dawn :( . Going to have to have a 'nana nap' this afternoon if I'm to survive the night!   This is our sixth trip to Paris and as we are only here for a short time we opt to just walk everywhere, stop and eat, drink and just soak in the ambience.  We head down to the Seine to check out where we are meeting the boat tonight then we head back to visit the Opera House - this is an extraordinary venue and next time I come to Paris I'm going to make sure I come at a time I can book a show!    Galeries Lafayette - they have produced a spectacular centre decoration this year.  Pop our heads into the Lindt chocolate shop - I resist!  After all our work as sleuths this morning we end up taking a taxi down to the Seine.  Seated right next to the window we sip our champagne and prepare for the night ahead.  We travel quite a way up the river to where the new part of Paris dominates the cityscape, then turn to finish right in front of the Eiffel Tower for the countdown to the new year.  The food has been fine, considering we are on a boat, plenty of champagne and wine, party treats and a DJ so we can dance the night away.  We dock at about 1.00am and although the fun will continue till about 2.00am we bail at about 1.30am and manage to hire an uber who has to maneuver his way around the streets of Paris as many bridges etc are closed.  It's been quite a day!
