We finally arrive in Rovaniemi. There are some buses but with all our luggage we grab a cab for the 10 kms trip to Santa's Holiday Village. Plenty of snow around, as you would expect at the Arctic Circle. We can't get into our room until 4pm so after refreshments we book some safaris - nothing is cheap - Euros 99 each for reindeer ride, Euros 159 for husky trek, and a two hour snow mobile is Euros 75 - total spent Euros 666 - but of course they have a 'captive' market. We set off to explore the Village. As you would expect, plenty of shops, restaurants. in the week You have to line up to see Santa so we'll do that a little later in the week. Lots of families around - a wonderful Christmas vibe ... what else!
Back at reception we pick up our keys at 3pm and wander down to Cabin 14 - a dear little semi-detached cabin - basic but good, we even have a sauna and our own Christmas tree out front. Having not had too much sleep in the last day or so I am out for the count, then it's down for dinner. The package I bought includes 'half-board' which is breakfast and dinner. Food quite tasty, though all buffet style. Have read of another couple of highly recommended restaurants in Rovaniemi, so may have to check them out.
Back in our room, GC is now out for the count so I will finish my post, watch some Netflix and then join him!
