As expected, not a great night's sleep - up at 4.00am Googling how to operate the coffee machine :( . Finally organised and breakfast consumed, have discovered that the only thing GC packed were jeans ... so it's off to Jermyn St to purchase a suit. From there it was a stroll around the real-life Monopoly board .... Regent St, Piccadilly, New Bond, Old Bond. Popped into Fortnum and Mason, an upmarket supermarket with the most extraordinary offerings! Everybody needs a bottle of sparkly strawberry conserve! A drink at the Ritz - kitsch but traditional. There are so many people out and about and every store is in Christmas decoration overload - it is absolutely stunning! Down to Carnaby St and, although it was a beautiful blue sky this morning, it is now overcast so after attempting to crash two pubs for at least a seat, we finally settle at the Shakespeare Arms for a tipple and a bite to eat - we are the only two not drinking beer! More walking and a desperately needed stop found us in Hamleys - a most amazing toy shop, five stories high. Back to pick up the suit after having trousers taken up - that's service for you! Back home it is time to get ready for Cinderella at the Sadlers Wells. A beautiful and unique adaptation by Matthew Bourne. I had organised a dinner after the show at Trullo after reading some good reviews. Unfortunately by the time we arrived they had closed the kitchen .... back to the Montague where at least we could get a drink and something to eat.
