We stayed at Albinoni, in Barcelona, neat, clean and really well located. They were doing renovations when we were there so it would be a delight now. I decided that to stay on Las Ramblas was folly (and a very wise decision) but we were five minutes walk from that famous street and still in the thick of shopping, restaurants...all you could ask for.
The architecture in Barcelona is amazing. The Gaudi inspired buildings are unlike anything else I've ever seen. Organic in appearance they appear to have 'grown' into their space rather than having been constructed.
La Sagrada Familia is on of Gaudi's extraordinary architectural creations. Commenced in 1882 it is still far from complete. Apparently completion is expected by 2026, which will be the centenary of Gaudi's death.
When we visited there were many workmen on site and you can see the cranes that remain a permanent fixture around the perimeter.
A view back over Barcelona.
Not a straight line to be seen, just amazing fluid lines everywhere.
The girls favourite time of the day...well, one of the three favourite times of the day!
Barcelona was very easy to walk around and one day we found ourselves down by the harbour.
Paella and sangria was the only choice for me! Delicious!
