As you stroll along the avenue you pass the champagne houses of Martell, Pol Roger, Perrier Jouet, Moet and Chandon, which is absolutely huge unfortunately it is also closed at this time of year (and yes …. you do pronounce the “T”) and many others that we never hear of in Australia.

Avenue de Champagne |
La Villa Eugenie is about a 15 minute walk along the Avenue de Champagne from the centre of Epernay. This morning we are visiting another champagne 'cave' and after paying our 5 euros we are shown a film on the making of champagne and we are then able to make our own way down into the cellars before returning to sample their champagne …. we keep our glasses as a momento.
We return to the hotel to check out at 12pm and after loading the car we are off to Reims. It is only about a 30 minute journey and we are both convinced we are going to another small township, how wrong we are!
