Our first adventure today was the horse and carriage ride up to Neuchswanstein. Such an imposing structure - pity Ludwig never finished it and, in fact, never lived in it!
A long and windy road to Munich, leaving at 11.45am and, apart from a stop for petrol, we arrive at the Sofitel by about 1.30pm. The hotel is lovely, situated right beside the railway station, and though I don't usually book hotels near train stations, this was convenient for both dropping off the hire car and catching the train when we leave.
We wander down to have a look at the Christmas markets, and are lucky enough to see the Krampus parade. The Krampus were the assistants of St Nicholas who, while St Nick would turn a blind eye to the 'naughty children', would scare those children into submission with their scary faces and loud ringing bells.
A bite to eat then back to the hotel. My foot is killing me and I am suddenly very tired!
