After a nearly 18 hour flight we finally landed in London. The flight was very good - the effects of altitude in this aircraft are much easier on your skin and eyes but I don't know if I would rush back to do such a long haul.
We were able to check into our room early, which was a bonus - the Sofitel St James which was resplendent in Christmas decorations, twinkling lights and beautiful red bows on every room. After freshening up, coffee and pastries, we head to Harrods - the ultimate shopping experience. This is purely to soak up the retail atmosphere - everything is quite expensive. Zara is next door so that's another compulsory stop - I manage to buy a lovely coat and jumper.
We wandered over to Buckingham Palace, the Canada Gates, Clarence House, Selwyn House back to the hotel then it was time to rest up before heading to the Shard. London's tallest building and a new home to offices and numerous restaurants, the view over London is spectacular.
